About the Program
THE WRITERS CIRCLE offers a unique opportunity to receive meaningful feedback on your writing through a proven methodology that respects both creator and work. Over four months (January to April 2025)), THE WRITERS CIRCLE, limited to 4 featured writers and a total of 7 artist/responders or responders-only, will meet for 4 ONLINE sessions, with each featured writer having the opportunity to share 4-5 pages of their work and receive thoughtful, constructive responses.

The Critical Response Process
Developed by choreographer Liz Lerman, this four-step method provides a framework for giving and receiving constructive feedback:
Statements of Meaning: Responders share what was meaningful, evocative, or interesting
Artist Questions: The writer asks questions about their work
Neutral Questions: Responders ask non-judgmental questions
Permissioned Opinions: Responders offer opinions, only with the writer's consent
This method ensures feedback is relevant to your goals as a writer while creating a safe environment for creative risk-taking.
Community Commitment
Attendance at all four ONLINE sessions is essential as it supports your reciprocal commitment to your fellow artists. THE WRITERS CIRCLE thrives on consistency and connection. By committing to the full series, you help:
Build the trust necessary for honest, helpful feedback
Develop a cohesive community of supportive writers
Ensure each featured writer receives feedback from all participants
Deepen your understanding of the Critical Response Process through regular practice
Create a reliable space where creative vulnerability is respected and protected
How to Apply
Space is limited to ensure each writer receives dedicated attention. Please submit a brief statement about your writing project and what you hope to gain from THE WRITERS CIRCLE.
Application Deadline: 1 December, 2025
Program Fee: €180 or $200 (includes all four sessions, reduced for responder-only)
